A recording used to reproduce the acoustic character of a space or system through convolution.

“Let’s hear the impulse response against picture before the next review.”

You may encounter “Impulse response” in sound, music & voice conversations or materials.

Why it matters: Explains dialogue, effects, atmosphere, music, voice and the technical work of making them intelligible.

This usage is established in practice but is not fully standardised. A domain specialist should review it before release as canon.
