Location hold

ELI5

A temporary reservation of a location while dates or production decisions remain unresolved.

“The treatment should show the location hold clearly enough for the department to plan it.”

You may encounter “Location hold” in production design, locations, costume & hmu conversations or materials.

Why it matters: Explains how spaces, objects, clothes, hair and make-up create the physical world.

This usage is established in practice but is not fully standardised. A domain specialist should review it before release as canon.
